Recently the Foxwoods Resort Hotel and Casino in Connecticut hosted a gala Rock and Roll show dubbed the Doo Wop Hall of Fame show. The Royal Teens turned in an outstanding performance as usual.
What makes The Royal Teens a little different and adds to their unparalled successful longevity (53 years) in the music industry is that they not only sing and play their own accompaniment, but they also write almost all of the songs they have recorded.
Two young ladies have been recently added to the group to give it a fresh look, besides the gals adding some dynamic harmonies, just like back in the old days, says original member Tom Austin leader of the group, they open up a lot of creative arrangement opportunities that only can be accomplished with female voices in songs like “We Do the Sham Rock” and “Talk of the Town.”
Over the years, The Royal Teens have performed with everyone from Buddy Holley and The Cricketts and Bill Haley and The Comets, to Little Anthony and The Imperials and The Duprees.
The Royal Teens are a utilitarian type of group that can fit into any venue and stand out in any crowd. Still clean cut and personable, The Royal Teens plan to be around for a long time thanks to their music being featured in the Broadway smash hit “JERSEY BOYS.”
